George graduated from DHS in 1948, played all sports, with honors. His first major accomplishment was testing for an appointment from Senator Brent Spence for an application to the Navel Academy.  After competing  with several applicants, he was given an opportunity to take the entrance exam and was accepted.  To be sponsored by the likes of Brent Spence was no small accomplishment. After four years at the Academy he graduated and was a commissioned officer in USN, assigned sea duty. His first year in sea duty found him on a ship in the South Pacific during the first Hydrogen Bomb test and witnessed this event as close as safety would allow. His application for aviation training was his next assignment at Pensacola Navel Air Base  and was trained as a jet fighter pilot and assigned to carrier duty with  his  rank increased accordingly. After several tours of duty he was ordered to Beeville, Tx for  fighter training in advanced aviation techniques for combat.  This training  required learning new skill sets to perform high G maneuvers to evade enemy close encounters and to establish new tactical criteria for future pilots.  However, this was to be his last accomplishment as he did not survive a high G turn that caused unconsciousness that was not recoverable.
